Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has expressed support for establishing a judicial commission to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the murder of Hina Javed. She also met the victim’s family at Parliament, where they called for an independent and transparent inquiry into the case.
Aseefa said Hina’s family wanted a judicial commission to investigate all aspects of the murder. She expressed hope that the authorities would seriously consider their demand and ensure a fair and transparent investigation.
She stressed the importance of examining every aspect of the case to establish the facts and ensure that justice is served.
Hina Javed was allegedly tortured and murdered on August 22, 2026, around nine months after marrying Faisal Asghar. According to details reported about the case, Hina had allegedly suffered repeated domestic violence at the hands of her husband but remained silent because she did not want to distress her parents, who were reportedly bedridden at the time.
The alleged abuse ultimately ended in her death, raising serious concerns about domestic violence and the protection of women facing abuse within their homes.
According to the initial police investigation, Faisal Asghar allegedly murdered Hina with the assistance of other suspects. Her body was reportedly found hanging from a shower in the bathroom of her home. Her hands were tied, and blood and foam were reportedly visible around her mouth.
Faisal Asghar and a domestic worker have been arrested in connection with the murder, while Hina’s father-in-law has also been named in the case. The allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
Faisal Asghar had reportedly been dismissed from two universities in Islamabad over allegations of sexual harassment. The murder case also drew attention to claims about his previous marriage. According to reports, his first wife had obtained a divorce over alleged domestic violence and mistreatment.
On August 28, the Hina Javed murder case was declared high-profile. The Punjab Prosecution Department subsequently formed a special committee comprising senior prosecutors to oversee the case.
The committee was directed to ensure that the investigation proceeded on scientific and comprehensive grounds, with the aim of strengthening the prosecution and examining the available evidence thoroughly.
Aseefa Bhutto’s support for the family’s demand for a judicial commission has added to calls for a transparent investigation. The family hopes that an independent review will address any unanswered questions, establish responsibility and help ensure justice for Hina Javed.
