Asif Zardari approves key bills, gallantry award

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved several important summaries, including amendments to legislation concerning cultural heritage, standard time references and the management of hazardous materials aboard ships.

According to details, President Zardari approved the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) Amendment Bill 2026. The legislation relates to the institutional framework governing the preservation and promotion of Pakistan’s folk and traditional heritage.

The president also approved the Standard Time (Interpretation of References) Amendment Bill 2026, which seeks to amend provisions related to references to standard time.

In another decision, President Zardari approved revisions to the Table of Organisation and Equipment (TO&E) of the Armed Forces Institute of Urology (AFIU) in Rawalpindi. The TO&E sets out an organisation’s approved structure, personnel and equipment requirements.

The president also approved a bill concerning the environmentally sound management of hazardous materials found aboard ships. The legislation focuses on the handling and management of potentially harmful substances in the maritime sector, with an emphasis on environmental protection.

In recognition of an act of bravery, President Zardari further approved the conferment of the Tamgha-e-Shujaat on Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) staff nurse Razia Noreen.

The approvals cover legislative, administrative, environmental and civil award matters and were issued following the relevant summaries placed before the president.
