CDF Asim Munir, Malaysian minister deepen strategic ties

Malaysian Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday.

The meeting was also attended by Malaysia’s ambassador to Pakistan and members of a high-level Malaysian delegation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the discussions focused on regional security developments and issues of mutual interest. Both sides reviewed matters affecting the wider region and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation.

The Pakistani and Malaysian sides reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between the two countries. They expressed a desire to further expand bilateral engagement in areas of common interest.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation with Malaysia. He also emphasised the importance of expanding strategic engagement between the two countries.

The meeting comes as Pakistan and Malaysia continue efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation on security and defence matters. The two countries have maintained close relations and regularly engage on regional and international issues.

The Malaysian delegation’s visit provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to deepen institutional cooperation and strengthen coordination on shared security concerns.
