Addressing the gathering, Aurangzeb said the government was pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening the economy, promoting sustainable growth and creating greater opportunities for the private sector.
He highlighted progress in reducing the budget deficit, increasing government revenues and advancing financial and institutional reforms. He also referred to reforms in state-owned enterprises, privatisation, the energy sector and measures to improve the business environment.
The Finance Minister said broadening the tax base and ensuring effective implementation of tax laws were essential for sustainable economic growth. He said the government was also working to improve transparency and reduce discretionary intervention in tax administration.

He said Pakistan had successfully completed its IMF reviews on schedule and that the country’s credit rating had improved on three occasions.
The minister also noted the challenges posed by last year’s floods and the recent conflict in the Middle East, including the impact of regional developments on global oil prices.
A question-and-answer session followed, during which participants discussed Pakistan’s economic outlook, investment climate, cooperation with international financial institutions and opportunities across various sectors.
