Australia–Pakistan explore new trade and investment opportunities

RAWALPINDI: Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan H.E. Timothy Kane visited the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), where RCCI President Usman Shaukat, Vice President Fahad Barlas and Director Trade & Education Mr. Azhar Shah welcomed him.

During the meeting, President Usman Shaukat briefed the High Commissioner on RCCI’s major events and upcoming activities, highlighting the Chamber’s efforts to promote trade, investment and business linkages.

He identified promising opportunities to strengthen Pakistan–Australia cooperation in pharmaceuticals, information technology, gems and mining, agriculture and livestock, education, and vocational training.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Timothy Kane emphasized the longstanding people-to-people ties between Australia and Pakistan and highlighted significant potential for greater collaboration in food security, water management, climate resilience and education.

The High Commissioner noted that Australia currently has more than 22,000 active Pakistani student enrollments, reflecting strong educational and people-to-people connections between the two countries.

He also highlighted more than four decades of agricultural collaboration between Australia and Pakistan, underscoring the depth and continuity of bilateral cooperation in this important sector.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore new avenues for strengthening trade, investment, education and institutional linkages between the business communities of Australia and Pakistan.
