Over the past years, rising prices of construction materials had significantly increased building costs making home ownership difficult for many people. However, under the newly presented federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year, relief measures have been announced.
Starting from July 1, 2026, the beginning of the new fiscal year, wholesale and retail prices of construction materials are expected to decrease easing difficulties in home construction.
As part of the proposed budget measures, the government has reduced sales tax on wholesale building materials from 2.5% to 1.25%. Similarly, the sales tax on retail construction materials has also been cut from 2.5% to 1.25%.
This move is expected to significantly reduce the prices of construction materials once implemented providing relief to people planning to build homes in the new financial year.
