Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 80th birthday today. The actor, who is also known to his fans as Big B, thanked his fans on his blog for supporting him no matter what.
On Tuesday, he arrived to see a crowd outside his house at 12:00am, which is regarded as an iconic landmark in Mumbai, with daughter Shweta Nanda by his side.
Amitabh’s fans have always celebrated his birthday by cutting cakes, making prayers in his honor, and sometimes even paying a visit to his Jalsa residence in Mumbai.
Amitabh offered birthday wishes to his fans who share the same birthdate with him via social media, where he communicates with his followers, or as he refers to them, “extended family”.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter.
Amitabh Bachchan is currently hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 14. Abhishek Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will be put on trial in a special episode honoring his birthday.
According to the promo, Jaya will reveal something about Amitabh Bachchan that would move him to tears.
After starting his career in 1969 with the movie “Saat Hindustani”, Bachchan went on to receive praise from critics and the general audience for films like ‘Anand’ (1971), ‘Zanjeer’ (1973), and ‘Deewar’ (1975), establishing himself as a superstar for decades.
