Bride Murder: Main Accused Sarfaraz Killed By Own Accomplices’ Firing In CCD Encounter

GUJRANWALA :The main accused who ruthlessly murdered bride Saba on her Valima day in Gujranwala has been killed in an alleged police encounter.

According to the Counter Crime Department (CCD) Gujranwala, accused Sarfaraz was killed near Maddu Khalil Road when his own accomplices opened fire on police to get him released from custody.

*1. THE ENCOUNTER – What Happened Today*

CCD sources have given the following details:

*Location:* Maddu Khalil Road, Gujranwala

*The Arrest:* After killing bride Saba, accused Sarfaraz did not stay in Gujranwala. He first fled to Karachi and from there was trying to go into hiding in Balochistan. CCD Gujranwala formed special teams which traced his continuously changing locations. He was arrested late last night after a technical chase.

*The Attack:* When the CCD team was bringing him back to Gujranwala, at Maddu Khalil Road, four armed men riding on two motorcycles ambushed the police van and opened indiscriminate firing.

*Death By Own Accomplices’ Firing:* According to CCD, the main accused Sarfaraz, who was in custody, came under the firing of his own friends who had come to rescue him. He was critically injured and died while being shifted to hospital.

*Escape of Attackers:* After the firing, three attackers managed to flee from the spot. CCD has cordoned off the area and a search operation is underway.

Police have termed it a classic case of “killed by the firing of his own accomplices.”

*2. THE ORIGINAL CRIME – 24th October Night – When Wedding Became Mourning*

*Place:* Near Samanabad Chungi, Gulshan Colony, Gujranwala
*Victim:* Saba, newly-wed bride

Saba had just finished her Valima ceremony. She was going home with her husband in a car. When the car reached near Samanabad Chungi, accused Sarfaraz along with his accomplices stopped the car and opened indiscriminate firing on the bride sitting inside.

Bullets hit Saba in her chest and stomach. She could not survive and died on the spot. The happiness of the wedding turned into mourning within minutes.

The case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father at Police Station CCD Gujranwala.

*3. THE MOTIVE – Revenge For Rejection*

According to the family and investigation, accused Sarfaraz wanted to marry Saba. Three years ago, he had sent a marriage proposal to Saba’s family, but the family had refused.

When Saba got married to someone else, Sarfaraz held a grudge. He started keeping an eye on Saba through her friend Arooba.

On the day of Valima, as soon as he got information that Saba was returning from the function, he along with his accomplices planned and executed the murder.

*a) Hamza Arrested:* In a separate raid, CCD has arrested Hamza, a close accomplice of Sarfaraz, who was with him on the day of the murder and during the escape.

*b) Female Facilitator Arooba In Custody:* The most important arrest is that of Arooba, who is said to be both a friend of the deceased Saba and cousin of accused Sarfaraz. According to investigation, Arooba was the informer who gave Saba’s exact location, timing of Valima, and route of return to Sarfaraz. She is already in CCD custody and is being interrogated.

*5. THE ESCAPE ROUTE – How He Was Caught*

– After the murder on 24th October, Sarfaraz immediately went underground.
– He first hid in Gujranwala, then fled to Karachi.
– From Karachi, his plan was to escape to Balochistan to disappear in a remote area.
