Pakistani actress and television host Bushra Ansari has shared an emotional account of her daughter Nariman’s experiences, revealing how being raised to always behave well may have affected her later in life.
The veteran artist discussed the issue during an appearance on the morning programme Good Morning Pakistan, where she was joined by her friend and colleague Arshad Mehmood. During the conversation, Bushra recalled a complaint her daughter once made about the lessons she had learned growing up.
According to Bushra, Nariman told her that being taught to always be a good child had come at a personal cost. The actress explained that she had always considered good behaviour to mean being respectful, obedient and well-mannered.
Bushra said she had never received complaints about Nariman from her school or college during parent-teacher meetings. She believed her daughter had always been well-behaved and had tried to meet the expectations placed on her.
However, Bushra acknowledged that Nariman’s experiences with her in-laws had been difficult. She said her daughter had taken care of family members, including her aunt, but did not receive the same level of consideration in return.
The actress also recalled an interaction between Nariman and her therapist. According to Bushra, the therapist asked her daughter who had taught her to be so obedient. Nariman reportedly replied that her mother had encouraged her to be a good child.
Reflecting on the conversation, Bushra explained that she had always viewed obedience and respect as important values. Her remarks also highlighted how lessons intended to encourage good behaviour can sometimes leave children struggling to establish boundaries in difficult relationships.
Bushra compared Nariman’s temperament with that of her other daughter, Meera. She said Nariman had generally been an obedient child, while raising Meera had presented different challenges.
Known for her work in television, acting, hosting and writing, Bushra has remained a familiar face in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. She has appeared in numerous popular productions, including Aangan Terha, Pardes, Tere Bin and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. She also shares aspects of her daily life and travels through online vlogs.
