The England captain played a remarkable innings of 131 runs, smashing eight sixes and guiding his team to a massive total of 257 for three — their second-highest score in T20 internationals.
Buttler’s century came after a dominant partnership with Harry Brook, who remained unbeaten on 95. The pair added a record 233-run stand for England in the format, completely putting India’s bowlers under pressure.
India, needing a huge chase to avoid a clean sweep, struggled from the beginning. Despite contributions from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma, the visitors could only manage 201 for eight in their allotted overs.
England all-rounder Sam Curran played a key role with the ball, taking three wickets for 36 runs to restrict India’s chase and secure another convincing victory.
Buttler said he was delighted with his return to form after a difficult period and praised the team’s performance throughout the series. He said scoring runs while wearing the England shirt carried special importance.
India captain Shreyas Iyer admitted that the team had important lessons to learn from the series, highlighting fielding and adapting to conditions as areas needing improvement.
The match was briefly delayed after India’s team arrived late due to traffic issues. Fans also missed the appearance of young batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was left out of the playing XI.
England’s victory marked another dominant performance against the reigning T20 world champions. The two teams will now shift focus to a three-match ODI series beginning in Birmingham.
