LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana has directed Lahore Police to implement comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), while also intensifying operations against criminal activities across the provincial capital.
The directives were issued during a performance review meeting held at the CCPO Office, where the policing standards and operational performance of the Iqbal Town and Saddar divisions were assessed. Senior police officers from various wings attended the meeting to discuss law and order, crime prevention strategies, and future security planning.
Commending police personnel for maintaining peace and ensuring effective security during Ashura, the CCPO expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made during the religious observances. Building on that success, he instructed all concerned officers to leave no room for negligence while preparing security plans for the upcoming religious events. He emphasized that the safety of worshippers, visitors, and the general public must remain the highest priority.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated the Lahore Police’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against criminal and anti-social activities. He ordered an intensified crackdown on drug traffickers and gambling dens operating in different parts of the city, directing officers to take decisive legal action against those involved in such crimes.
The CCPO also stressed the importance of protecting citizens’ rights during police operations. He warned officers that the wrongful arrest or unnecessary harassment of innocent individuals would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He instructed investigators to ensure that every criminal case is handled with fairness, transparency, and professionalism while upholding the principles of justice.
Special emphasis was placed on improving investigations related to financial crimes. The police chief directed investigation teams to expedite inquiries into fraud and financial offences so that victims receive timely justice and relief. He noted that efficient investigations and swift legal action are essential for strengthening public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
Reviewing local security initiatives, the CCPO observed that the installation of security barriers in residential neighbourhoods had produced encouraging results in reducing criminal activities. He instructed police officers to work closely with the administrations of private housing societies to promote the concept of gated communities and strengthen neighbourhood security systems.
To improve safety in rural areas, Kamyana also ordered the revival and activation of the traditional “Thikri Pehra” community night watch system. He said greater community participation would help police prevent burglaries, thefts, and other property-related crimes, particularly in villages and suburban localities.
The Lahore Police chief further instructed officers to tighten the net around habitual burglars and repeat offenders, ensuring that they are arrested and brought before the law without delay. He also ordered indiscriminate action against the public display of illegal weapons, vehicles fitted with tinted windows in violation of regulations, and the display of the so-called “Dallah culture,” which undermines public order and the rule of law.
Calling for modern policing practices, the CCPO urged officers to adopt professional investigation techniques, intelligence-based operations, and proactive policing strategies to curb crime more effectively. He emphasized that discipline, accountability, and public service must remain the guiding principles of the Lahore Police.
Before the meeting concluded, participants offered Fateha and expressed heartfelt condolences on the passing of the sister of SP Saddar (Investigation).
The meeting was attended by DIG (Admin) Imran Kishwar, DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, SSP (Investigation) Muhammad Naveed, SSP (Operations) Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem, as well as divisional SPs, ASPs, Circle Officers, SHOs, and Investigation In-charges from the Iqbal Town and Saddar divisions.
