PARACHINAR: The Champion Cup Football Tournament was inaugurated at Jinnah Stadium in Parachinar, with prominent social, political and religious figures attending the opening ceremony.
Those who attended the ceremony included Pakistan Peoples Party General Secretary and Chairman Malik Syed Asghar Jalal Bangash, Agha Syed Tajammal Hussain, Inayat Hussain Lala, Tehreek-e-Hussaini President Master Younas, PTI Youth Wing Vice President Irshad Bangash, Trade Union President Subedar Jafar Hussain and other notable personalities.

They said sports grounds helped keep young people away from drugs and other negative activities while teaching them the spirit of healthy competition. They added that sports could also serve as an effective means of promoting peace, brotherhood and harmony in society.
The participating players urged the local administration and the Pakistan Army brigade commander to ensure the regular organization of football tournaments at the district level. They said such events would provide young people with opportunities to develop their sporting abilities and remain engaged in constructive activities.

On the occasion, PTI Youth Wing President Irshad Hussain assured the players that he would hold a special meeting with the Director General (DG) Sports to discuss the organization of sports competitions in Kurram and address the problems faced by local players. He said efforts would be made to take practical steps for the promotion of sports in the district.
