According to international media reports, late-night clashes broke out between police and groups of people in parts of the British capital.
Large crowds gathered on Edgware Road in northwest London causing major traffic disruption. Videos circulating on social media showed police in riot gear attempting to disperse the crowd while some individuals set off fireworks, threw debris onto the streets and climbed onto vehicles.
One video appeared to show a police officer lying on the road although no official confirmation has been provided regarding the officer’s condition.
