The College Education Department has issued an academic and co-curricular calendar for the first time for the academic year 2026-27 introducing a structured schedule for educational, extracurricular, literary and cultural activities in colleges.
According to the newly issued calendar, colleges will organize academic activities throughout the year alongside examinations, admissions, literary and cultural programs sports competitions, seminars, workshops, career guidance sessions and awareness campaigns. Students will also participate in activities marking national, religious and international days.
The academic and co-curricular calendar aims to give students opportunities to develop their intellectual, creative, moral, social and leadership skills alongside their regular studies. The initiative focuses on promoting critical thinking, communication skills, teamwork, patriotism, civic responsibility, ethical values, environmental awareness and leadership among students.
Under the new schedule, mid-term examinations will be conducted around the middle of October. The examinations will cover the coursework taught up to mid-October. College teaching staff and students will participate in the examination process while principals faculty members and college administrations will be responsible for making the necessary arrangements.
The calendar also states that the admission process for BS programs will begin during the last week of November. The initiative is intended to provide students with opportunities to continue their education through higher academic programs.
In March 2027, intermediate preliminary examinations will be conducted. During April, colleges will continue various academic and co-curricular activities, including programs designed to support students’ academic preparation and guide them about their future educational pathways.
Final board examinations are scheduled to take place in May 2027. Students will appear in the examinations according to the schedules issued by their respective educational boards. Practical examinations will subsequently be conducted during June and July.
The introduction of the academic and co-curricular calendar is aimed at integrating classroom education with extracurricular and practical activities. The department hopes the initiative will help students prepare not only for examinations but also for higher education, professional careers and practical life.
