Dr Fazeela Abbasi gets bail extension in money laundering case

A special central court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of Dr Fazeela Abbasi till May 5 in a case involving allegations of money laundering

A special central court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of Dr Fazeela Abbasi till May 5 in a case involving allegations of money laundering and running an illegal clinic.

The hearing was conducted by Special Judge Central Humayun Dilawar. However, arguments on the bail applications could not be presented during the proceedings.

Due to this, the court extended her interim protection from arrest. Authorities have been restrained from arresting Dr Fazeela Abbasi until the next hearing date.

The court also directed that detailed arguments on both the main petition and related miscellaneous applications be presented at the next hearing.

The case has now been adjourned until May 5.

According to official details, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered two separate cases against Dr Fazeela Abbasi. The cases relate to financial irregularities and allegations of operating an unlicensed medical facility.

Investigators allege that the accused was involved in suspicious financial transactions linked to money laundering. They also claim that an illegal clinic was being run without proper authorization.

However, Dr Fazeela Abbasi has not yet been formally convicted, and the court proceedings are ongoing.

Earlier, Dr Fazeela Abbasi, sister of actor Hamza Ali Abbasi and popular TikToker, has been granted interim pre-arrest bail in a case concerning the operation of an allegedly illegal clinic. The decision was made on Monday by Special Judge Islamabad Central Humayun Dilaware.

Dr Abbasi appeared in court with her lawyer, Naeem Bukhari, and requested pre-arrest bail. The court accepted her plea and granted bail against a surety bond of Rs50,000, while directing her to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation. The next hearing has been scheduled for April 15.

The dermatologist is currently under investigation in two cases registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), both related to the alleged illegal clinic.
