The party clarified that Dr Yasmin Rashid is alive and currently remains in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram dismissed all reports regarding her alleged death or critical condition. He described the claims as false, baseless and far from reality.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said Dr Yasmin Rashid was in good spirits despite her imprisonment and ongoing health challenges. He urged party workers and the public not to trust unverified reports spreading on social media platforms.

“Dr Yasmin Rashid is alive and continuing her struggle with courage and determination,” he said.

Dr Yasmin Rashid, a 74-year-old gynecologist and senior PTI leader, has remained in custody since May 2023 in connection with cases related to the May 9 unrest following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Over the past two years, concerns have repeatedly been raised over her deteriorating health condition. She has reportedly been shifted to hospitals on several occasions for medical treatment and examinations.

Her lawyer, Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar, also issued a clarification after reports emerged claiming that Dr Yasmin had signed a will due to her health condition.

According to her lawyer, Dr Yasmin clearly stated during a recent meeting in Kot Lakhpat Jail that she had not signed any will or final document regarding her health.

He said she thanked supporters, well-wishers and members of the public who had prayed for her recovery and well-being.

The lawyer further revealed that doctors had advised Dr Yasmin Rashid to undergo spinal surgery due to her medical condition.

He said applications had been filed before the courts seeking permission for her treatment and necessary medical facilities. However, he claimed that no urgent or final relief had yet been provided despite the seriousness of her health issues.

According to her legal team, Dr Yasmin Rashid continues to receive treatment related to her previous cancer condition and is also suffering from respiratory complications.

Her lawyers said the court had directed authorities to ensure immediate medical treatment for her. However, certain medical risks and complications had delayed a permanent treatment plan.

The PTI leader reportedly conveyed through her lawyer that she remained committed to the principles of rule of law and democratic values despite her imprisonment.

Meanwhile, PTI lawyer Taimur Malik also rejected reports circulating about the health and well-being of both Dr Yasmin Rashid and senior party leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

He described the social media posts as fake, misleading and irresponsible.

Malik said both leaders were currently lodged in Kot Lakhpat Jail and their condition had been confirmed through communication with jail authorities.

He added that a scheduled jail trial hearing had been postponed this week, preventing lawyers from meeting the leaders in person on Tuesday.

Despite dismissing rumours, Malik acknowledged that Dr Yasmin Rashid and PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry were facing serious and worsening medical conditions.

He said the courts and prison authorities had already been informed about their health concerns and urged that proper medical care be ensured without delay.
