According to media reports, a U.S. security officer asked Egypt team manager Ibrahim Hassan to step back leading to a heated verbal exchange between the two. The situation escalated further when a member of Egypt’s coaching staff also became involved.
During the confrontation, fellow officials and Egyptian player Trezeguet attempted to calm Ibrahim Hassan, while the security officer reportedly took out a pair of handcuffs. However, the situation was brought under control before it escalated further.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
