The company describes it as a record-setting deployment, the largest of its kind involving Tesla’s electric semis to date. The trucks will operate within Einride’s Saga AI fleet intelligence system.

They’ll support operations for Amazon along with several other freight accounts, running across key corridors in California, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois and Georgia. The rollout is set to begin in September, unfolding in phases over a 24-month period.

According to Einride, the trucks will be funded externally through third-party financing arrangements rather than direct company capital. The company has positioned the deployment as a significant milestone for electric freight adoption in the US.

At the core of the operation is Saga AI, a platform designed to manage the added complexity that comes with running battery-electric trucks. That includes factors like charging schedules and fluctuating electricity rates across different regions.

Einride explained that the platform oversees the entire truck network as a unified system, aiming to maximise overall fleet efficiency and streamline freight movement across routes.

Einride CEO Robert Falck said the deployment demonstrates the company’s ability to execute at the scale its customers expect. He credited the close collaboration with Tesla for helping bring next-generation Semis into active daily operations quickly and efficiently.

Tesla’s Semi program director echoed that sentiment, describing Einride as a leader in sustainable freight. He pointed to lower fuel costs, reduced maintenance needs and better uptime as key advantages electric trucks offer over traditional diesel fleets, benefits that become even more significant when deployed at scale.

Beyond operational efficiency, the deal is also expected to give customers early access to Tesla’s next-generation vehicles. Potential subscription-based revenue could follow through joint business arrangements between the companies.

The new trucks are also expected to help expand active freight capacity across the routes they serve. With deployment set to begin next month, the rollout represents one of the most significant real-world tests yet for electric trucking at a commercial scale.
