Senior politician Fawad Chaudhry has criticised the current direction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming that the party has faced significant damage due to recent leadership decisions.
Speaking to journalists outside a court in Lahore, Chaudhry said the party’s original focus on securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan had weakened over time. He claimed that the issue had now moved into the background, while even Khan’s family was mainly seeking access to doctors and medical support.
Chaudhry blamed the party’s decline on the exclusion of workers and leaders who faced arrests and hardships during difficult times. He said those who made sacrifices for the party were being sidelined, while new faces without a long association with PTI were being given important positions.
Commenting on the formation of the “Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain” alliance, Chaudhry raised concerns over its leadership structure. He questioned the decision to give a leading role to individuals whose political positions, according to him, do not align with PTI’s previous stance on national issues.
He said PTI, being a national-level political party, should carefully consider its leadership choices and maintain its federal character.
Chaudhry’s remarks come amid ongoing legal cases involving PTI leaders and internal discussions about the party’s future strategy. PTI leadership has not yet issued an official response to his criticism.
