FBI chief Kash Patel hosts Naqvi in Washington, hails ‘critical partnership’

Kash Patel, the director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), hosted Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the agency’s headquarters in Washington on Monday, describing the ties between Pakistan and the United States as critical.

In a post on social media platform X, Patel shared that it was an honour to host Naqvi at the FBI headquarters. He extended his gratitude to Pakistan for its support in protecting American interests in the region, noting that the FBI deeply appreciates their partnership. Patel added that the two sides held crucial discussions focused on facilitating resources and specialised training to combat counter-terrorism financing as well as cyber investigations, both at home and abroad. He emphasised that the bilateral partnership remains vital and expressed optimism for further joint successes in the future.

The interior minister arrived in Washington last week after representing Pakistan at the Fifth United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit in New York, where he also held meetings with several regional and international officials on the sidelines.

This meeting follows a previous interaction between the two officials. Naqvi last met Patel in Washington in September 2025, a session he had described at the time as excellent. During their 2025 meeting, the two leaders had discussed operational cooperation on illegal immigration, counter-terrorism, and structured officer exchange programmes, with Naqvi praising Patel’s professionalism and vision as a partner.
