The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has uncovered an organized online financial fraud network in Faisalabad and arrested two key suspects during a targeted operation. The raid was conducted on Satiana Road as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on cybercrime and financial fraud across the country.
According to FIA officials, the suspects were allegedly involved in sophisticated online fraud schemes that targeted citizens through cloned digital accounts and fraudulent financial transactions. During the operation, authorities recovered approximately Rs350,000 in cash, multiple debit cards from various banks, and several mobile phones believed to have been used in the criminal activities.
Investigators revealed that forensic examination of the seized mobile devices led to the discovery of applications linked to 84 cloned mobile wallet accounts. These accounts were reportedly being used to conduct illegal transactions and deceive unsuspecting individuals. The findings indicate that the suspects were part of a larger organized network specializing in digital financial fraud.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the gang obtained sensitive personal information from citizens and used the stolen data to open fake bank and microfinance accounts. These accounts were then allegedly utilized to carry out fraudulent transactions worth millions of rupees. Authorities believe the operation may have affected a significant number of victims.
The FIA further stated that individuals associated with certain cellular service providers and banking institutions may also have been involved by supplying customer data to the fraudsters. Investigations are now being expanded to identify and apprehend additional members of the network as well as anyone who may have facilitated the scheme.
A formal fraud case has been registered against the arrested suspects, while efforts continue to trace other accomplices. The operation highlights growing concerns over cyber-enabled financial crimes and underscores the need for stronger data protection measures and public awareness regarding online security.
