Counting of votes is underway across all 24 constituencies of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly after the completion of polling. Results are being received from different areas in phases.
Early unofficial and unverified results show leads changing in several constituencies.
In GBA-1 Gilgit-1, results from 10 out of 80 polling stations show PPP candidate Amjad Hussain in the lead with 1,553 votes. MWM candidate Muhammad Ilyas Siddiqui is in second place with 635 votes.
In GBA-2, partial results indicate that PML-N candidate Hafeez-ur-Rehman is leading. PPP candidate Jameel Ahmed is in second place. IPP candidate Fattahullah Khan is in third position.
In GBA-6 Hunza, results from 77 out of 88 polling stations show PTI-backed independent candidate Nek Nam Karim leading with 5,612 votes. PPP candidate Imtiaz-ul-Haq is second with 4,540 votes. Hunza National Alliance candidate Raja Nazim Ameen is third with 4,321 votes.
In GBA-7 Skardu-I, counting has been completed at all 31 polling stations. PPP candidate Syed Tauqeer Mehdi has secured victory with 4,295 votes. IPP candidate Raja Jalal is second with 3,849 votes. PML-N candidate Haji Akbar Tabaan is third with 2,667 votes.
In GBA-9 Skardu-III, PPP candidate Fida Muhammad Nashad is leading. MWM candidate Wazir Azhar Mehdi is trailing.
In GBA-10 Skardu, PPP candidate Raja Nasir Ali Khan is ahead. MWM candidate Mushtaq Hussain is in second place.
In GBA-15 Diamer-I, independent candidate Muhammad Dilpazeer is leading. PML-N candidate Abdul Waheed is second.
In GBA-16 Diamer-II, IPP candidate Atiqullah is leading. PML-N candidate Muhammad Anwar is second.
In GBA-19 Ghizer-I, independent candidate Nawaz Khan is ahead. PML-N candidate Zafar Muhammad is in second position.
In GBA-20 Ghizer-II, independent candidate Safdar Ali Sherazi is leading. PML-N candidate Abdul Jahan is second.
In GBA-21 Ghizer, independent candidate Amaan Ali is leading. PML-N candidate Ghulam Muhammad is in second place.
In GBA-23-A, results from 22 out of 48 polling stations show independent candidate Anwar Ali leading with 6,596 votes. Independent candidates Abdul Hamid and Abdul Rahim are in second and third positions.
Authorities have reported that access routes to the Election Commission office have been restricted. Barbed wire and containers have been placed outside the premises. Only official vehicles are being allowed entry.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly consists of 33 seats. These include 24 general seats, 6 reserved seats for women, and 3 seats for technocrats.
A simple majority of 17 seats is required to form the government.
A total of 396 candidates are contesting the elections, including 266 independent candidates.
Across the region, 1,368 polling stations were established. Security arrangements were tightened, with around 15,000 personnel deployed.
Polling stations include 457 normal, 350 sensitive, and 480 highly sensitive categories.
Officials say counting is continuing smoothly as results are being compiled from across the region.
