MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a suspected agent after offloading a woman from a Saudi Arabia-bound flight at Multan International Airport over alleged links to a human trafficking network.

According to information obtained by Minute Mirror from FIA officials, the incident occurred on September 27, 2026, during immigration clearance for Saudi-bound Flight SV-801. The woman, identified as Anisha Bibi, was travelling on an Umrah visa when immigration officials raised questions about the purpose and circumstances of her journey.

During preliminary questioning, the passenger allegedly identified Muhammad Amjad as the agent facilitating her travel. FIA officials subsequently arrested the suspected agent at the airport.

Investigators also examined digital communications allegedly linked to the case. According to officials, the material recovered from the devices raised suspicions of an organised network involved in human trafficking and the alleged sexual exploitation of women under the cover of Umrah travel.

The investigation is now being expanded to determine whether other individuals were involved in arranging travel and exploiting vulnerable passengers after their arrival in Saudi Arabia.

Officials said the case was not being treated as an isolated incident. FIA authorities have previously intercepted passengers at Multan Airport over suspected misuse of Umrah visas for activities unrelated to religious pilgrimage, including alleged organised begging.

A case has been registered against the arrested agent, while investigators are working to identify and apprehend other suspected members of the network operating in Multan and surrounding areas.

FIA officials said immigration authorities have strengthened scrutiny at international airports to prevent human trafficking and the misuse of Umrah visas, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved in such activities.
