In the first knockout-round match, hosts Canada defeated South Africa 1-0 to secure a place in the Round of 16. However, the biggest attraction on Monday was the highly anticipated clash between Brazil and Japan.
World No. 6 Brazil and World No. 18 Japan had both drawn their opening group-stage matches. Brazil played out a 1-1 draw against World No. 7 Morocco, while Japan drew 2-2 with World No. 8 Netherlands.
