The foundation said it would work with organisations in Fiji and across the international community to develop year-round opportunities to support recovery through sport.
Fiji’s participation follows its contribution to international military service, including deployments alongside British forces in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo, according to the foundation. The country has also made a significant contribution to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, use adaptive sport to support the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and sick serving and former military personnel.
The idea was inspired by Harry’s visit to the Warrior Games in the United States in 2013, where he saw injured service members taking part in sporting competitions.
The Birmingham Games are scheduled to take place from July 10 to 17, 2027.
