Singer Firerose has opened up about her troubled seven-month marriage to country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, making serious allegations about their relationship and seemingly issuing a warning to his current girlfriend, Elizabeth Hurley.
In a recent interview, the 38-year-old singer, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodge, described her marriage as a warzone and alleged that she experienced emotional and verbal abuse during their time together.
Firerose claimed she frequently felt she had to be cautious around Cyrus, accusing him of limiting her interactions with friends and discouraging her from having a car. She also alleged that even minor disagreements could lead to angry outbursts and verbal insults, followed by periods of affection.
Reflecting on her experience, the singer expressed sympathy for people involved in relationships she considers emotionally harmful, saying she would not wish such an experience on anyone.
She also appeared to address Elizabeth Hurley, who recently sparked engagement speculation after sharing a social media photograph featuring a prominent diamond ring.
Meanwhile, Cyrus has repeatedly rejected allegations of emotional abuse, previously claiming that he was subjected to verbal mistreatment during their relationship.
The former couple initially met while working on Disney’s Hannah Montana before reconnecting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their relationship eventually led to marriage, but Cyrus filed for divorce in May 2024, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct.
Their divorce was finalised in August 2024, following a highly publicised separation marked by accusations from both sides. Cyrus later described the relationship as a nightmare in a statement issued through his legal representatives.
