Bharat has joined the team “Stallions” for a domestic tournament being held in the United Arab Emirates.
The development comes just days after he announced his retirement from international cricket.
K. S. Bharat represented India in seven Test matches between 2023 and 2024, mostly serving as the team’s wicketkeeper during the absence of Rishabh Pant.
In those seven Tests, he scored 221 runs at an average of 20.09, with a highest score of 44. He has not been selected for the national team since February 2024.
In his retirement announcement, Bharat said that representing India had been the “greatest honor” of his life, adding that while the journey was challenging, every moment was worth it.
Soon after retiring, he was picked by the Stallions for the UAE Two-Day Championship, a tournament featuring some of the region’s top players.
The competition aims to improve players’ skills and strategic thinking for longer-format cricket.
Each match is played over two days, with 80 overs scheduled per day. Teams earn points for victories, 10-wicket wins, or innings victories.
The tournament began on June 19 and will feature a total of seven matches, with the final scheduled for July 4.
K. S. Bharat will serve as the wicketkeeper for the Stallions during the tournament.
