French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot discussed the agreement during a telephone conversation with Marco Rubio. During the call, both leaders expressed support for the deal and acknowledged the role played by the United States in helping the two sides reach an understanding.

The French government said the agreement could create an opportunity to reduce hostilities along the Lebanon-Israel border and help prevent further military escalation in the region.

France also reaffirmed its readiness to contribute to the implementation of the agreement and to support efforts aimed at restoring stability and strengthening state institutions in Lebanon.

According to French officials, the agreement is intended to help restore full Lebanese sovereignty and reinforce the authority of the Lebanese state throughout its territory. France also stressed the importance of ensuring security guarantees for both Lebanon and Israel as part of any long-term arrangement.

The framework agreement is expected to facilitate a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory while reducing tensions and military activity along the border.

The latest round of hostilities began earlier this year following regional instability and escalating confrontations involving armed groups operating in southern Lebanon.

During their discussions, the French and American officials also reviewed recent diplomatic developments involving the United States and Iran. They examined progress made under ongoing understandings and discussed ways to maintain diplomatic momentum in the region.

France reiterated its support for a strong, transparent and verifiable agreement that would ensure that Iran does not develop nuclear weapons and that its nuclear programme remains within internationally accepted limits.

The conversation also included discussions on the situation in Ukraine and broader international security issues.

Both officials exchanged views on recent diplomatic initiatives and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit, where regional conflicts, defence cooperation and global security challenges are expected to dominate the agenda.

The latest diplomatic contacts reflect continued international efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East and encourage political solutions to regional disputes through dialogue and cooperation.
