Global companies take interest in Pakistan Airport outsourcing project

Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) aims to improve airport services and build international partnerships, attracting interest from various countries and major airport operators for its outsourcing projects.

Foreign Minister Ishaq chaired a recent meeting to review the progress of outsourcing efforts through Pakistan’s missions abroad. The 9th meeting of the Steering Committee on Airport Outsourcing followed to plan the next steps and assess the current status.

The CAA spokesperson said that several countries, including Turkey, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, are interested in partnering to develop Islamabad’s Islam International Airport.

In addition, major airport operators from Paris, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland have shown a desire to collaborate on improving the same airport.

The spokesperson said that this strong interest from foreign investors and airport operators indicates confidence in Pakistan’s political and economic stability.

The meeting focused on providing top-quality facilities to passengers without interruptions, meeting established service standards.

The foreign minister emphasized the importance of economic diplomacy and directed the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to accelerate the outsourcing process for Lahore and Karachi airports within the given timeframe.

Additionally, the meeting discussed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks created by international consultants to improve service quality at airports, showing Pakistan’s dedication to boosting its aviation infrastructure.

The steering committee meeting included the Secretary of Aviation, the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority, the Secretary of Law and Justice, and other relevant officials, ensuring a well-rounded approach to airport outsourcing.
