Google has introduced a new feature in Google Wallet that allows users to track their online orders and package deliveries directly from the Wallet app.
With this new feature, Google will automatically detect digital receipts and tracking numbers from the user’s Gmail inbox. Using this information, the app will display the latest package tracking updates on the Google Wallet home screen.
Packages that are due to arrive soon will be highlighted alongside users payment cards and users will also be able to view more detailed tracking information for each shipment.
Once a package has been delivered, users can manually remove it from the tracking list. Google also expects this process to become automatic in a future update.
According to Google, this feature will not affect emails stored in Gmail or change the organization of users inboxes. At present, the feature is available only in the United States. Google says it supports the email formats used by most major retailers although compatibility with all online stores is not guaranteed.
To use the feature, users must enable Google Workspace Smart Features in their Gmail settings. Once activated, Google Wallet will automatically display eligible package tracking information without requiring users to enter tracking details manually.
