Islamabad – Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar while discussing the court hearing and order concerning the treatment of the PTI founder said that the government is reviewing the court’s decision and will approach the Supreme Court seeking a review of the order.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said that the order regarding the PTI founder’s treatment has been reviewed while consultations have also been held on other points mentioned in the order.
The Law Minister questioned whether the Supreme Court’s order would also apply to all prisoners. He said that a large number of prisoners in the country’s jails are also facing health-related issues.
He said convicted prisoners are provided treatment facilities at government hospitals. However, he added that different aspects of the court order concerning the PTI founder’s treatment are being examined.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said that after legal consultations on the court order, the government would approach the Supreme Court seeking a review of the decision. He again questioned how the order would be applied to other prisoners if it was intended specifically for one particular prisoner.
The Law Minister said that the government respects court orders however, it is also necessary to examine their legal and administrative implications.
