Hezbollah backs US–Iran memorandum, ties ceasefire to Israel’s compliance

Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement has welcomed the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran, saying the agreement has brought about a ceasefire across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.

According to reports from Beirut, Hezbollah stated that it has not carried out any operations since the announcement of the deal. The group emphasized that its stance on the ceasefire depends on Israel’s adherence to the truce, rejecting what it described as Israel’s attempts to maintain unrestricted military movement inside Lebanon.

Hezbollah noted that Iran deliberately delayed signing the agreement in order to test Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire. The group added that Lebanon’s inclusion in the memorandum reflects Iran’s determination to secure an end to the war and protect Lebanese rights.

In its statement, Hezbollah stressed that any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty by Israel would not be tolerated. It also urged displaced residents of border villages to wait for official instructions before returning to their homes, underscoring the fragile nature of the current truce.
