When the Ukraine and Russia war broke out in 2022, the whole world seemed to have unanimously come together, holding on to the conclusion that Russia would annex major parts of Ukraine in no time. The power ratio of Russia was significantly overestimated. While the whole world watched Ukrainians get killed they chose to boycott Russian products and Russians all together, thinking of Ukraine, like another Gaza Strip. However, four years have passed ever since, and everyone’s prediction has been proven wrong. Not only is Russia not winning, but it seems to be that Ukrainians are dominating them in this war with a shield of national unity, as well as their army not stopping anytime soon.

Despite several pleas of a cease-fire, including Trump inviting Putin to Alaska in hope of coming to a conclusion which almost seemed successful, but was to no avail. Why is it that despite news channels demonstrating Russia clearly suffering, Russia is not willing to end this war?

Russia might have escaped and ended communism, but the whole superpower is still run by a group of oligarchs who control all the major industries. This war is inevitably devastating for the millions of civilians and soldiers getting murdered and killed every single day. However, it is the same war designed to be a money making machine for these oligarchs. This method was adapted from when Russia saw how much petrol prices increased when the United States was fighting its war of terror in the Middle East, and how much the profit it made off of the global calamity. They realized that in order to keep cashing in the oil prices cannot go down.

The West is seen trying to somehow desperately eliminate Russia’s dominance globally as well as their own independence on Russian resources. The European Union stopped buying Russian oil, which again in the favor of Russia, worked out, because now the European Union has to buy oil from India, who themselves buy oil from Russia. The economic downfall of Russia is not so attainable. Russia making major partnerships with China, Iran, and North Korea is further building its strong alliance against the West.

This Ukrainian war is not only benefiting them economically through oil price rising, but it is providing them with a sense of unity and combined nationality as they’re framing this as a war against the western world and their cultures, which includes the LGBTQ . Their official head of church gave this speech about how they want the gay culture to end. Though Putin’s popularity all over the world has decreased through mass propaganda, in Russia the effect is opposite.

People forget that the same oligarchs, who exploit them in every means of life, are the ones controlling this war. They forget about their countries’ own struggles during war, they forget the corruption scandal surrounding their president, surrounding these oligarchs, and a great distraction is created for them.

The money has blindsided the ones who are in control. Once a level of wealth is reached, morality is lost . The reason Russia’s economy was so doomed in the first place is because the oligarchs made bad investment choices, and spent most of the wealth, hence, leaving them with no choice, but this war which seems to go on for ages with no stopping. Every day civilians will get killed, so that a few thousand men can keep filling their wallets.
