Stains on living room sofas can be difficult to remove even with regular cleaning. Marks on cushions and sofa covers can make the furniture look untidy leading many people to buy expensive cleaning products.
Several homemade cleaning methods are popular on social media. One simple method uses common household items to help clean stains from sofas.
However cleaning products should always be used carefully especially when they come into direct contact with the skin.
How to make the cleaning solution
Start by taking about half a pot of warm water. Add around half a cup of dishwashing liquid two tablespoons of baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar. Mix the ingredients well.
Next, add one cup of cold water to the mixture. Dip a microfiber cloth into the solution and squeeze it well to remove excess liquid.
Use the damp cloth to gently clean the stained areas of the sofa.
If the stain does not disappear after the first attempt you can repeat the process. However do not apply the mixture directly to the entire sofa without testing it first.
Test before cleaning
before using any homemade solution test it on a small hidden area of the sofa. This can help you check whether the mixture changes the fabric’s colour or texture.
It is also important not to mix different cleaning chemicals on your own. Always follow the cleaning instructions provided by the sofa or fabric manufacturer to avoid damaging the furniture.
