iPhone 18 Pro color change reports

Apple’s latest iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have been on the market for only a few weeks but some users are already reporting unusual changes in the phones’ exterior color.

The reports are mainly focused on the Burgundy models with some complaints also involving Black versions.  Photos shared online appear to show lighter or pinkish areas around the rear camera section.

Color change reported around Cameras

According to user posts the issue does not appear across the entire back of the phone.  Instead the area around the three rear cameras seems to be affected more noticeably.

Some users say the difference remains even after cleaning the phone. However other reports suggest that some marks can become less visible after cleaning so it is still unclear whether all cases have the same cause.

Cause has not been confirmed

There is currently no confirmed explanation for the reported color changes. Some users have suggested that heat produced around the camera system could play a role while other reports have raised the possibility of environmental exposure such as UV light.

These explanations remain unconfirmed and there is not yet enough evidence to establish what is causing the reported changes.

Apple has yet to comment

Apple has not officially confirmed the reported discoloration as a widespread defect or announced a specific solution for affected devices. It is therefore unclear whether the company will offer replacements or another form of support to users who experience the issue.

Similar Complaints Were Reported With iPhone 17 Pro

This is not the first time users have raised concerns about the exterior finish of a new iPhone. Last year some iPhone 17 Pro owners reported unusual color changes particularly on the Cosmic Orange finish with some Deep Blue units also mentioned.

The latest reports are drawing comparisons with that earlier issue although the scale and cause of the iPhone 18 Pro reports have not yet been independently established.

For now the reported color changes appear to involve only some devices, and there is no reliable evidence showing how widespread the problem is.

Until Apple provides an official explanation the reports should be treated as unconfirmed user complaints rather than a confirmed manufacturing defect.
