Iqra Aziz calls marriage to Yasir Hussain a blessing

Actor Iqra Aziz has described her marriage to fellow actor Yasir Hussain as a source of good fortune,

LAHORE: Actor Iqra Aziz has described her marriage to fellow actor Yasir Hussain as a source of good fortune, dismissing criticism surrounding their age difference and saying that mutual understanding and shared life goals matter more than age.

Iqra Aziz spoke about her personal life while attending Hussain’s theatre production So Suite in Lahore. The actor also discussed motherhood, the pressures faced by working mothers and her own interest in eventually making the transition from television to theatre.

Addressing public discussion about the couple’s more than 10-year age difference,  Iqra Aziz said she did not view it as a problem. According to her, compatibility and having similar ambitions are far more important when building a relationship.

She described Hussain as a caring and supportive husband and said the happiness within their family was evidence of the strength of their relationship.

Iqra Aziz also opened up about the challenges of balancing work and motherhood. She said “mom guilt” could affect both working and non-working mothers, particularly when women feel they are unable to devote enough time and attention to their children.

She explained that her children sometimes want her undivided attention after she returns from work, even when she has limited time available. However, she said she was fortunate to have a strong family support system around her children.

According to Iqra Aziz, members of both families, including grandparents and an aunt, help care for the children and ensure they remain surrounded by people who love and support them.

She urged mothers not to blame themselves for feeling guilty about balancing family responsibilities with other commitments. Instead, she encouraged them to recognise the effort they make for their children.

The actor also praised Hussain’s work in theatre, saying the medium presented a significant challenge compared with television. She admitted that she was somewhat nervous about performing on stage herself but said she hoped to take on a theatre project in the future.

Iqra Aziz reflected on her own television career as well, saying she had waited for the right acting opportunity before making her screen debut. She suggested that finding a character suited to her was an important factor in her decision to enter the industry.
