Iran claims strikes on US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain

Iranian forces have claimed that they carried out a series of attacks on US military facilities and air-defense installations in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to American military operations.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its forces targeted several key radar and air-defense systems at Kuwait’s Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base. According to the IRGC, the strikes hit an early-warning radar, a missile-defense radar system, an FPS-117 radar, Patriot air-defense equipment and satellite communication systems linked to air-defense operations.

Iranian state-linked news agency Tasnim reported that the IRGC described the operation as an effort to weaken radar coverage across the region. The force claimed that disrupting these systems would make it more difficult for opposing forces to detect and intercept future Iranian missile and drone attacks.

Iranian military officials also claimed that kamikaze drones struck three important US military facilities in Kuwait. The attacks reportedly targeted administrative buildings and direction-finding antennas at Camp Arifjan, helicopter parking facilities at Camp Ali Al-Salem, and accommodation facilities for military personnel at Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base.

In a statement, the Iranian military said US military actions had increased instability in the region. It argued that Iran’s retaliatory operations aim to counter American forces and restore what Tehran describes as peace and stability in the region.

Kuwaiti authorities, however, gave a different account of the situation. The Kuwaiti military said its air-defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed Iranian missiles and drones, indicating that the country’s defensive capabilities remained operational during the reported attacks.

Meanwhile, the IRGC also claimed that Iranian forces struck US-linked defense facilities in Bahrain. According to Iran’s state broadcaster, the IRGC said its forces destroyed an American air-defense system and radar equipment in the Muharraq area.

The IRGC further claimed that Iranian forces launched a coordinated missile and drone attack against a US Patriot air-defense system in Riffa. The claims have not been independently verified, and the extent of the reported damage remains unclear.

The latest claims highlight the growing tensions between Iran and the United States and the increasing risk of military escalation across the Gulf region. The reported strikes, if confirmed, could further raise concerns about the security of US military installations and the broader stability of Gulf states hosting American forces.
