Iran has declared that it is engaged in a “full-scale war” with the United States as military confrontations continue across the Middle East despite efforts by international mediators to reduce tensions.

President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran is facing a decisive phase of the conflict and the country must remain united while accepting the consequences of continued resistance. He insisted that Tehran would not compromise on its sovereignty, national interests or core principles under any circumstances.

The Iranian president also defended the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed with the United States in June. He said the agreement protected Iran’s interests and did not force the country to abandon any of its rights. According to Pezeshkian, the document contains no clause that gives Washington a one-sided advantage.

Although both sides had agreed to de-escalate after signing the memorandum, fighting has intensified again in recent weeks. Airstrikes, missile attacks and drone operations have been reported across several countries in the region, raising fears of a wider conflict.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the United States of sending more military equipment to the region while publicly calling for peace. He said Iran is fully prepared for any future escalation and warned that actions speak louder than political statements.

The Pentagon confirmed that two American soldiers were killed during Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting US military positions in Jordan. The troops were supporting operations against the Islamic State group. US officials said the latest casualties have raised the number of American service members killed in the conflict to 17.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said several countries are working to prevent further escalation and have delivered proposals to Tehran through diplomatic channels. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the government is reviewing those proposals but declined to reveal any details.

Baghaei stressed that diplomacy remains active even during the conflict. He said Iranian diplomats continue their work while the country’s armed forces defend Iran against foreign attacks. He added that both diplomacy and military action are serving the country’s national interests.

The spokesman also rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that Iran had released an American citizen previously detained on espionage charges. He said the individual mentioned by Trump was never imprisoned on such charges and therefore could not have been released.

Iran also reaffirmed its determination to safeguard the Strait of Hormuz. Officials said Tehran will continue coordinating with Oman and regional countries to maintain security while protecting Iran’s sovereignty over the strategic waterway.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that its ground forces are on the highest level of military readiness. Senior commanders warned that any attempt by US forces to enter Iranian territory would be met with an immediate and forceful response. They said Iran’s military has strengthened its operational capabilities and remains fully prepared for any emergency.

Fresh explosions were reported in several Iranian cities, including Tabriz, Bushehr and Isfahan. Iranian authorities said one person was killed and several others were injured after a strike on a military site near Tabriz. Investigations into the extent of damage in other areas are continuing.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran would only consider ending the war when it achieves a stronger military position. He said negotiations should begin only after securing strategic gains that protect the country’s interests. According to him, political decisions during wartime must be based on careful military and national calculations.

The conflict has also affected neighboring countries. Bahrain activated emergency warning sirens after reporting attacks on its civil air navigation systems. Officials said flight operations continued normally despite the incident. Kuwait also announced that its air defense systems intercepted hostile drones approaching its territory.

Iran claimed it had carried out drone attacks against US military facilities in Kuwait, including Ali Al Salem Air Base. The IRGC said the strikes targeted radar systems, aircraft facilities and military equipment. There was no immediate confirmation from US or Kuwaiti authorities regarding the extent of the reported damage.

Maritime security concerns also increased after a commercial vessel caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz following a projectile strike. The crew safely abandoned the ship and was rescued, but the vessel remained adrift as investigators examined the incident.

The United States has continued airstrikes on Iranian military targets, saying the operations are aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and regional security. Washington has also reinforced its military presence across the Middle East, while Tehran has vowed to continue retaliatory attacks if US operations persist.
