Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) have launched a massive coordinated crackdown against drug peddlers and criminal elements under the *”Nasha! Ab Nahi” (No More Drugs)* campaign, resulting in heavy seizures and hundreds of arrests.
Minute Mirror has compiled daily, weekly and monthly reports of the campaign.
*1. RECENT OPERATIONS – ARRESTS:*
*Two Weeks – October 2026:*
Islamabad Police arrested 571 suspects during a crackdown against drug dealers and illegal arms holders across the federal capital. The operation was conducted in different sectors, slum areas and entry points.
*One Week – Second Week of October 2026:*
In a one-week operation, 370 criminals involved in crime and drug peddling were arrested. Among them, 296 were judicial absconders and proclaimed offenders wanted in different cases of heinous crimes and narcotics.
Police said the crackdown will continue without discrimination.
*2. MAJOR SEIZURES – DRUGS AND VALUE:*
Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in its nationwide operations with special focus on Islamabad Toll Plaza and Islamabad Airport made major recoveries:
– *Total Seizure:* 91.562 kilograms of narcotics recovered in recent operations, with an international market value of more than Rs 14.2 million.
– *Islamabad International Airport:* 362 grams of Ice (Methamphetamine) recovered from a passenger travelling to Jeddah. The accused had concealed the drug in his luggage to smuggle abroad.
– *Islamabad Toll Plaza:* 1.2 kilograms of drugs seized from a smuggler during snap checking at a picket near the toll plaza. The smuggler was trying to enter Islamabad with the consignment.
Sources said ANF has increased checking at all entry and exit points of Islamabad, including Motorway Toll Plaza and airport, to stop inter-provincial smuggling.
*3. ACTION IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS – IHC ORDERS:*
In light of the orders of the Islamabad High Court, special instructions have been issued to the Inspector General (IG) Islamabad to prepare a strong and long-term mechanism in collaboration with all stakeholders to make educational institutions drug-free.
The High Court observed that sale and use of drugs in and around educational institutions is an alarming issue and directed ICT Police, ANF, Federal Directorate of Education and other departments to jointly evolve a comprehensive strategy, including:
– Regular checking and surveillance around schools, colleges and universities.
– Awareness campaigns for students and parents.
– Rehabilitation of affected students.
– Strict legal action against peddlers targeting students.
IG Islamabad has been directed to submit compliance report before the court.
*OFFICIAL STANCE:*
Police officials said the “Nasha! Ab Nahi” campaign was launched on the directions of the Ministry of Interior to make Islamabad a drug-free city. Daily reports are being compiled and shared with high command.
ANF officials said operations will be further intensified at airports and toll plazas as smugglers are using new methods to smuggle Ice and other drugs to Gulf countries.
*BACKGROUND:*
Islamabad has become a transit route for drug smuggling due to its location between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. In recent months, use of Ice and other synthetic drugs has increased among youth. The federal government has ordered zero tolerance.
Under Section 9 of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997, drug smuggling carries up to life imprisonment and death penalty in certain quantities. Cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
*Methodology:* This report is based on ICT Police daily and weekly progress reports of October 2026, ANF seizure memos at Islamabad Toll Plaza and Islamabad International Airport, and Islamabad High Court order regarding educational institutions. All figures are as per official record. CIJ Global Fact-Check has verified timeline and procedures.
