The federal government has earmarked significant funds for several development projects in Karachi under the latest budget, focusing on infrastructure, water supply, transportation, and civic amenities across different districts of the city.
According to budget documents, the government has allocated Rs7.5 billion for the Karachi Urban Infrastructure Development Package, which aims to improve the city’s essential infrastructure and support long-term urban development. Another Rs10 billion has been set aside for the Greater Karachi Water Bulk Supply Scheme to address the city’s growing water shortages and improve access to clean water.
The federal budget also includes Rs1.98 billion for Karachi’s Green Line Bus project. The allocation will help strengthen the city’s public transport network and improve commuting facilities for thousands of residents.
Several district-level projects have also received funding. The government has allocated Rs245.4 million for infrastructure restoration projects in Karachi’s District West. In Nazimabad and Liaquatabad, authorities will spend Rs220 million on repairing and upgrading civic infrastructure.
In Landhi and Korangi Town, Rs200 million has been designated for the development of roads, water supply systems, drainage networks, and playgrounds. District Central will receive Rs45 million for improvements to roads, streets, water supply, and drainage facilities.
Similarly, the budget provides Rs50 million for road and drainage projects in Malir to enhance local infrastructure and improve living conditions for residents. Meanwhile, the Karachi Coastal Power Project Units I and II have received an allocation of Rs10 million.
