KARACHI: A terrorist attack targeting the local headquarters of the Sindh Rangers in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Saturday resulted in the martyrdom of three Rangers personnel, while security forces eliminated three attackers during the operation.
According to police officials, the assailants attempted to storm the facility after crashing their vehicle into the main entrance, triggering an intense exchange of fire with security personnel stationed at the site.
Law enforcement agencies, including Rangers, police commandos, the Special Security Unit and anti-terror teams, quickly responded and secured the area. A clearance operation was launched to ensure no additional attackers remained in the vicinity.
Authorities confirmed that one injured security official was shifted to hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds during the attack.
Following the operation, the situation was brought under control and security personnel cordoned off surrounding streets as investigations continued.
Emergency teams and rescue officials rushed to the scene immediately after reports of heavy firing and an explosion near the Mosamiyat area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Senior provincial officials, including the chief minister and home minister, sought detailed reports from police and directed authorities to take all necessary measures to determine the circumstances and possible network behind the assault.
The attack comes amid renewed concerns over rising militant violence in the country. Recent security assessments have indicated an increase in terrorist incidents, particularly in conflict-hit regions, highlighting the continuing challenges faced by law enforcement and security agencies.
