Kim Kardashian has made it clear that failing the California Bar Exam will not stop her from pursuing her long-standing dream of becoming a lawyer. Despite facing disappointment over her unsuccessful attempt, the reality television star remains confident in her abilities and determined to continue her legal journey.
The 46-year-old celebrity addressed her exam results while attending the New York premiere of All’s Fair Season 2 on Monday, November 2. During the event, Kardashian explained that she does not feel embarrassed about failing because she believes making an effort and continuing to learn are more important than the outcome.
“I never really get embarrassed. I think it’s embarrassing for people that don’t try to study for the bar that would ever put me in an embarrassing situation,” she said.
Kardashian acknowledged that she has been working extremely hard on her legal education and has gained valuable knowledge throughout the process. However, following her unsuccessful attempt last year, she decided to take a temporary break from preparing for the challenging examination.
Despite the pause, her ambition to become a qualified lawyer remains unchanged. She is reportedly planning to take the California Bar Exam again in 2027, giving herself additional time to prepare before making another attempt.
Balancing her professional commitments, family responsibilities and legal studies has been one of the biggest challenges for Kardashian. As a mother of four and a successful businesswoman, she has a demanding schedule that leaves limited time for exam preparation.
The California Bar Exam is considered one of the most challenging professional examinations in the United States. It is a two-day test that includes 200 multiple-choice questions, five one-hour essay questions and a 90-minute Performance Test. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of legal principles, analytical skills and their ability to apply the law to practical situations.
Kardashian’s journey towards becoming a lawyer has not been easy. Before passing California’s First-Year Law Students’ Examination, commonly known as the baby bar, she failed the test three times. However, she eventually achieved success in 2021, proving her determination to overcome academic challenges.
Her interest in law became widely known in 2019 when she revealed that she had started studying after becoming involved in criminal justice reform. One of her most notable efforts involved helping secure the release of Alice Marie Johnson, who had been serving a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offence.
That experience encouraged Kardashian to pursue legal education and use her public platform to support people facing injustice within the criminal justice system.
Interestingly, the businesswoman had also hoped to pass the California Bar Exam before taking on her television role as a divorce lawyer in All’s Fair. She previously discussed the idea of combining her real-life legal ambitions with her fictional character’s profession.
Recalling her conversation with the series’ co-creator Ryan Murphy, Kardashian said they had discussed how exciting it would be to portray a lawyer on television while also becoming one in real life.
Although her examination results did not go as planned, Kardashian has no intention of abandoning the goal. She expressed hope that she would eventually pass the exam while the series is still running, allowing her to connect her television career with her real-world legal ambitions.
She also stressed that her unsuccessful attempt does not diminish the legal knowledge she has gained through years of studying.
Kardashian returns for the second season of All’s Fair alongside Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Teyana Taylor and Niecy Nash. The new season premiered on November 4, 2026, on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
For Kardashian, the journey towards becoming a lawyer continues, with her latest setback serving as another challenge rather than a reason to give up on her dream.
