Peshawar: Despite instructions from Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan advising that the budget should not be presented without consultation with him, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has moved ahead with preparations to present the budget.
The budget session is expected to be presented on June 15 and the provincial government has already informed the Assembly Secretariat. The budget session will continue until June 30.
Aleema Khan had instructed Chief Minister Sohail Afridi not to present the budget without consulting the party founder while some dissatisfied party members also supported her stance.
Meanwhile, the government has completed preparations for the budget presentation and formally informed the Assembly Secretariat. The KP Assembly budget is scheduled to be presented on June 15 and the Secretariat has finalized the session schedule. A break is planned on June 16 and 17 while budget debates will begin on Thursday, June 18.
Three days have been allocated for budget discussions followed by motions for demands for grants. After budget approval, discussions on supplementary budgets and related demands will take place. The budget session schedule has been set to continue until June 30.
