LAYYAH: The district administration recorded a significant milestone in revenue recovery during the last fiscal year, with land revenue collection exceeding its assigned target by 180 per cent.
This was disclosed during a meeting held here to review the collection of government dues, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Dr Abida Fareed, Assistant Commissioner Rana Zohaib Karim, Choubara Assistant Commissioner Zulfiqar Sabir, and other relevant revenue officials.
The meeting was briefed on the recovery targets and achievements across various sectors, including land revenue, stamp duty, agricultural income tax, and water rate (Abiana). According to officials, besides the 180pc land revenue recovery, the department also achieved near-total recovery of the agricultural income tax due. The overall recovery rate across all revenue heads stood at 86pc against the fixed targets.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Dogar directed revenue officials to ensure professional responsibility, hard work, and absolute transparency from the onset of the new fiscal year to achieve targets efficiently. He ordered regular monitoring of recovery processes and continuous performance evaluation, emphasizing that public facilitation must be prioritized to make the revenue system more transparent.
The deputy commissioner maintained that teamwork, accountability, and adherence to the law were vital to achieving government targets, adding that efforts would be intensified to further improve collection performance in the current fiscal year.
