President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid tribute to the 22 Kashmiris who were killed during the 1931 uprising against Dogra rule, marking Kashmir Martyrs’ Day.

The leaders highlighted the historical importance of July 13, remembering the sacrifices of those who lost their lives while demanding justice and rights. They said the day represents the courage, resilience, and determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

President Zardari said the sacrifices of the 1931 martyrs remain a significant milestone in Kashmir’s political history. He stated that Pakistan continues to stand in solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and supports efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.

He called for greater international attention toward maintaining peace and ensuring the protection of human rights in the region. The president stressed that stability in South Asia depends on resolving outstanding issues through peaceful efforts.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid homage to the martyrs and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The prime minister said the sacrifices of the 1931 martyrs played a key role in shaping political awareness among Kashmiris and became a symbol of their struggle for dignity and fundamental rights.

He added that the people of Kashmir have shown courage and perseverance through difficult circumstances. According to him, lasting peace and stability in South Asia require a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
