LinkedIn a popular professional networking platform, is taking stronger steps to reduce low quality sensational and automated content created using artificial intelligence (AI).
The company says the growing number of simple, repetitive and poorly written AI posts has affected the user experience. To address this issue LinkedIn is improving its algorithms and bringing in expert teams to promote real conversations and meaningful connections.
AI-Generated content is growing on linkedIn
According to a July report by Pangram, a research organisation that tracks AI-generated content more than 40% of long-form posts on LinkedIn are created using AI. This figure is higher than on other platforms, including X and Medium.
To deal with the problem LinkedIn introduced a button that allows users to report spam content. The feature received more than one million uses within its first two weeks.
The company says improvements to its system have reduced the reach of low-quality AI content by 40%.
Why does linkedIn want more human content?
LinkedIn Editor-in-Chief Dan Roth explained in an interview that using AI without proper human editing can make posts look similar and less meaningful. If too much content feels the same users may lose interest in the platform.
According to Roth, posts are more likely to succeed when they include personal experiences, original ideas and genuine opinions.
He also explained that when LinkedIn’s algorithm identifies a post as automated or low quality AI content it significantly reduces the chances of that post appearing in other users’ feeds.
LinkedIn is not against AI
LinkedIn’s decision is notable because its parent company, Microsoft is a major player in the AI industry.
However LinkedIn is not trying to stop people from using AI tools. Instead it wants users to add their own ideas make meaningful edits, and maintain a human touch in their posts.
The goal is to ensure that AI supports content creation rather than replacing original thinking and genuine communication.
Final thoughts
LinkedIn’s new approach aims to improve content quality and make the platform more useful for professionals. While AI can help people write faster personal experiences and original ideas remain important for building trust and meaningful connections online.
