Malaysian PM thanks Pakistan for regional peace efforts

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts, leadership and guidance in promoting regional peace.

During a telephone conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inquired about Anwar Ibrahim’s health and expressed his best wishes for his speedy recovery.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive progress in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding trade and investment ties between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House, the leaders also discussed the regional situation, particularly developments in the Gulf. Prime Minister Anwar appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

Shehbaz Sharif thanked his Malaysian counterpart for his consistent support for Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace. He also briefed Anwar on the situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The Pakistani prime minister said Islamabad would continue working closely with Malaysia and other brotherly and friendly countries to promote peace and stability.

The two leaders also agreed to continue joint efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

During the conversation, Shehbaz and Anwar agreed to meet in person at a mutually convenient time in the near future.

Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated his invitation to the Malaysian prime minister to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at an early date.
