Maryam Nafees, who is known for openly speaking about social issues, shared an emotional video on social media in which she highlighted a series of disturbing incidents involving women and children. She questioned why such cases repeatedly become social media hashtags for a few days but fail to lead to meaningful and lasting action.

In the video, the actor said that the hashtag of the day was Ayat Noor, a young girl who was reportedly subjected to gang rape, murdered and then thrown into a well. She expressed grief over the fact that another tragic case quickly replaces one horrifying incident, while public attention eventually fades away.

“Today’s hashtag is Ayat Noor,” Maryam Nafees said, referring to the horrific case. “She was subjected to gang rape, killed and thrown into a well.”

She then referred to another disturbing case involving a newborn baby who was miraculously found alive after being abandoned in a sack. According to her, the incident had also become a major topic of discussion on social media, but it was soon replaced by another tragic case.

“Yesterday’s hashtag was the newborn baby who was miraculously found alive in a sack,” she said.

The actor also mentioned the case of 45-year-old Hina, who was allegedly killed by her own husband inside their home. She expressed frustration that incidents of domestic violence continue to occur despite repeated public outrage and discussions surrounding violence against women.

Before Hina’s case, Maryam Nafees recalled the case of a 20-year-old woman with a disability who was allegedly sexually assaulted by police personnel at a police station. She also referred to the case of 18-month-old Ayzel, another child whose alleged abuse and suffering had sparked widespread public anger.

As she listed these cases, Maryam Nafees became visibly emotional and questioned whether society and the authorities were doing enough to prevent such incidents from happening again.

“Is anyone doing anything against these incidents?” she asked. “No.”

Her emotional reaction reflected a broader frustration over the repeated cycle of outrage surrounding cases of violence against women and children. Every new incident often generates widespread condemnation on social media, with hashtags, posts and demands for justice gaining momentum.
