Maryam Nawaz pays Rs27.2m for London trip

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has paid the expenses incurred for her travel to the United Kingdom on a government aircraft, according to sources.

The issue regarding the use of a government aircraft for Maryam Nawaz’s London visit had recently come under discussion. Sources said the chief minister has now personally paid the amount incurred for the use of the aircraft during the trip.

According to the sources, Maryam Nawaz has deposited Rs271.94 million? Wait— the reported amount is Rs27.194 million (Rs2 crore 71 lakh 94 thousand and Rs4) with the Punjab government.

A copy of the payment cheque has also been obtained by Geo TV, according to the report. The payment was made to the Punjab government against the expenses related to her travel on the official aircraft.

The matter had attracted attention after allegations were raised regarding the cost of Maryam Nawaz’s private visit to London using a government aircraft. Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry had claimed that the trip had cost more than Rs60 million.

However, according to the latest information attributed to sources, Maryam Nawaz has paid Rs27.194 million to the Punjab government for the government aircraft used during the visit.

The payment reportedly settles the expenses associated with the use of the official aircraft for the London trip. No further details regarding the breakdown of the amount were provided in the report.
