Maryam Nawaz’s youngest daughter graduates from SOAS London

LONDON: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif travelled to London to attend the graduation ceremony of her youngest daughter, Mahnoor Safdar, describing the occasion as a proud and memorable moment for her family.

Mahnoor Safdar completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology from SOAS University of London, where she studied from 2023 to 2026. Maryam attended the university’s September 2026 graduation ceremony during a brief private visit to the British capital.

Speaking after the ceremony, Maryam said she was extremely happy to see her youngest daughter complete her university education. She described a child’s graduation as one of the greatest moments of happiness and pride for parents.

The Punjab chief minister said all three of her children had now completed their higher education. She also expressed hope that every parent would experience the joy of seeing their children graduate and that every child would have access to quality education.

Maryam’s London trip was primarily private and focused on her daughter’s graduation, with no formal political engagements announced. She nevertheless met PML-N UK leaders Ahsan Dar and Khurram Butt during a luncheon.

During her stay, Maryam also rejected speculation about divisions within the PML-N. Responding to questions about reports of internal differences, she said the party remained united despite previous attempts to create divisions within its ranks.

She maintained that the PML-N had remained resilient over the years and dismissed suggestions that serious internal rifts were weakening the party.

Commenting on governance and development, Maryam said other provinces should also focus on delivering tangible results for citizens. She said her administration was working continuously on development and public welfare projects across Punjab.

The chief minister stressed that governments need sustained effort and hard work to produce visible improvements in the lives of the people.
